Resolve Operation Has Been Cancelled Due to Restrictions via Registry Editor
Fix the Registry Editor
- Add the programs to DisallowRun key In registry editor to keep them away from running
- Press Windows Key + R to open the Run window
- Type Regedit and press OK to launch Registry editor window
- Follow the path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
- Here delete the key with name ‘DisallowRun’
Issue With Web Browser
- Open the Registry Editor from Start menu
- Now, go to the path name HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\Classes\.html
- Go to the window on the right side and right click on ‘Default’
- Select Modify and change the value entered to html file
- Now perform the same steps to change value for key in .htm, shtml, .xht, .xhtml, .xhtm
Set Settings to Default
- Exit all the opened applications in the system
- Go to start and type internet options, click on the link that opens
- Click on Advanced and then click on Reset
- This will reset all the internet properties for all programs
- Click on Programs tab and then Set Programs
- The control panel window will open, click on Set Default Programs
- Click on Microsoft Office Outlook and click on ‘Set This program as default’
- Click on Web browser installed and select ‘Set This program as default’
Fix GPO (Group Policy) Settings
- Go to Start and type group policy to open the console
- Expand the user configuration folder and then Administrative templates
- Expand the System folder
- Go to the right side window and look for ‘Don’t run specified window applications’
- Double click on the option and change it to ‘Not Configured’
By following above methods you can reset the internet settings for all applications, fix issue with web-browser, registry editor and group policy to remove ‘Operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in Windows 10’.
