Do you know what is LiveLeak? It is a destination on the internet where visitors can see the videos of brutal murders and other gory incidents happening around the world. This is the site that had the footage of the execution of Saddam Hussein and the beheading video of journalist James Foley. These kinds of footage are not available on the platforms such as Youtube. But LiveLeak is a site that did not have a little bit of reservation to publicize such heartbreaking videos. Many people have got horrified after watching the videos in LiveLeak so for many years it survived among the controversies. But now after fifteen years, the nightmare is over. LiveLeak is no longer active. You can find all the details about this here.
What Happened to LiveLeak?
On May 5 LiveLeak website started to redirect to the page called Itemfix. This is a new service that permits users to edit audio, video, and more. The co-founder of LiveLeak Hayden Hewitt thanked his collaborators and others for making Itemfix. They have now moved on to the new website.
He said that the world has changed and the internet also is changing. That is why they are trying something new. This new website is also run by the same team who ran LiveLeak. But the Itemfix will be stricter in their privacy policies. It will excessively prohibit the gory contents in its portals so no one will have the chance to share such videos on the platform.
Hewitt knows that many of LiveLeak users will be disappointed and angry with the change. But he is asking the users to try this exciting new thing. He hopes that they will understand his reasons and appreciate them.
It is a good thing for the LiveLeak creators to take a new path. This will enable them to manage a platform safe from harmful content.
